Canine hoopers is a low-impact, fast-paced dog sport that’s all about fun, flow, and teamwork between you and your dog. Unlike traditional agility, hoopers focuses on smooth movement and distance handling, making it an inclusive and accessible option for dogs and handlers of all ages and abilities.
Accessible for all dogs – Whether you have a young, high-energy pup or a senior dog, hoopers provides mental and physical stimulation without the strain of high-impact sports.
Great for reactive or nervous dogs – The sport encourages focus and engagement in a controlled environment, helping dogs build confidence and trust in their handlers.
Perfect for first-time handlers – Hoopers is easy to learn, making it a great entry into dog sports for those new to training.
Strengthens your bond – Working together on courses enhances communication and teamwork, deepening your connection with your dog.
In hoopers, your dog navigates a flowing course made up of:
Hoops – Wide, low, arched frames your dog runs through
Barrels – Used for directional changes or sending your dog around
Tunnels – Short, open-ended tunnels that dogs can run through safely
Mats – Flat targets of non-slip design
Courses are designed to be smooth and free of tight turns or jumps, making them perfect for dogs who are retired from higher-impact sports, are still young and growing, or simply prefer a gentler pace.
One of the unique aspects of hoopers that makes it differ from agility is distance handling.
Rather than running alongside your dog, you'll learn to guide them around the course using clear cues and body language —helping to build your communication and teamwork.
This approach boosts your dog’s confidence, encourages independence, and is especially ideal for handlers who prefer not to run or have limited mobility. It's also fantastic mental stimulation for your dog as they learn to make decisions and problem-solve at a distance.

I started Aim Higher Canine Services to provide an inclusive and supportive space for dogs who don’t fit the traditional mould—just like my own dog, Meeko. With a background in dog care and walking nervous dogs that may have challenging behaviour, I am passionate about making hoopers fun and accessible for everyone.
I am a Canine Hoopers World Instructor and Member, and I have competed in CHUK shows across the North East as well as BK9 Hoopers shows across the country. I have also competed at the CHUK National Finals, and I am proud to have had clients qualify and compete there as well. In addition to offering licensed hoopers competitions, I provide Canine Hoopers World awards, giving clients exciting goals to work towards in class.

Professional guidance tailored to your dog’s needs, whether for fun or competition.
